CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- February 18, 1997 -- Applied Information Systems (AIS) announced today that it has released a version of its XESS spreadsheet for the Solaris x86 operating system. This version is completely compatible with the version for Solaris on SPARC and with the versions for other UNIX, OpenVMS, and Windows NT systems.
XESS is a powerful spreadsheet system for X Windows that can be used either as a standalone application or as a widget for integration with other applications. As a spreadsheet, XESS includes the fullest range of computational and graphical tools for both financial and scientific/engineering applications. As a development tool, XESS provides for the real-time integration with applications across platforms, throughout the enterprise.
AIS and its partners have developed a variety of applications and options based on the XESS technology including CAD/CAM, manufacturing automation, network management, and financial trading. These applications can control all aspects of the spreadsheet and update data in real-time.
